styling trends

Sometimes I go on Polyvore to see what trends show up on the left sidebar, and then challenge myself to create a look using as many of the trends as I can. Yesterday's trends included sequined shorts, ruffle scarves, printed pencil skirts, utility jackets, structured handbags, and pink jeans. Using pink denim, a utility jacket, and a structured bag as a base, I came up with this collage.

I ended up incorporating the print into a top rather than a skirt, and the sequins in a scarf instead of shorts. This is an ideal look for me because there's just enough going on; statement solids, contrasting prints, and coordinating colors with a touch of the wild side. I always love a good style challenge! Unfortunately, my wallet does not feel the same.
